Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of steblik.com (the "site"), operated by Miroslaw Steblik, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us", "operator"). By creating an account or otherwise using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
These Terms should be read together with the Privacy Policy and the Legal information page, which form part of the agreement between you and the operator.
1. About the site
The site publishes articles, resources, and other content on data engineering, investment data, and related technical topics. Some content is freely available; other content may require a registered account or, in the future, a paid subscription.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate. The operator reserves the right to verify eligibility and to suspend or close accounts that do not comply.
3. Accounts
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account.
- Notify the operator promptly at data@steblik.com if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- Each account is for a single individual. You may not share your account credentials with anyone else.
- You may close your account at any time by emailing the address above. Account closure is processed in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site in any way that breaches applicable law or regulation.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, the database, or any account other than your own.
- Interfere with the operation of the site, including by introducing malware, conducting denial-of-service attacks, or probing for vulnerabilities without prior written consent.
- Use the site to send spam, unsolicited communications, or harassing messages.
- Misrepresent your identity or impersonate any person or entity.
- Attempt to extract personal data about other users.
Security research conducted in good faith and disclosed responsibly is welcomed; please contact the operator before testing.
5. Intellectual property
Site content
All content published on the site — including articles, code samples, diagrams, graphics, and the underlying design — is the property of Miroslaw Steblik or the respective rights holders, and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise on a specific piece of content, all rights are reserved. You may view and read content for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share short quotations and links with proper attribution and a link back to the original page. Beyond this, you may not reproduce, republish, redistribute, or create derivative works from site content without prior written permission.
Code samples
Where a code sample is published with an explicit open-source license (for example, MIT or Apache 2.0), that license governs the use of that sample and overrides the general restrictions above.
Your feedback
If you send the operator suggestions, ideas, or feedback about the site, you grant a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use that feedback for any purpose, without compensation or attribution.
6. Premium content (future)
The site does not currently offer paid subscriptions. If paid premium content is introduced in the future, additional terms will apply at the point of purchase, including pricing, billing, cancellation, and refund terms. Where premium content is provided as digital content delivered immediately, you may be asked to consent to immediate supply and to acknowledge that the statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 will be lost upon supply commencing.
7. Newsletter and marketing communications
Marketing emails, including newsletters, are sent only to users who have explicitly opted in. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing data@steblik.com. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect transactional emails necessary for the operation of your account.
8. Freelance services
The site may advertise freelance and consulting services offered by Miroslaw Steblik. Information presented on the site about these services is for general information only and does not constitute a binding offer. Any engagement is governed by a separate written contract executed between the operator and the client. These Terms do not apply to such engagements except where expressly incorporated.
9. No professional advice
Content on the site is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute professional advice of any kind, including but not limited to investment, financial, tax, or legal advice. References to financial markets, investment data, or trading systems are technical in nature and must not be interpreted as recommendations to buy, sell, or hold any financial instrument. You should obtain advice from an appropriately qualified professional before acting on any information from the site.
10. Third-party links and services
The site may link to or rely on third-party services (for example, email delivery providers). The operator is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third party. Use of those services is governed by their own terms and policies.
11. Service availability
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The operator does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access, and may suspend or modify any part of the site at any time, with or without notice, including for maintenance, security, or operational reasons.
12. Suspension and termination
The operator may suspend or close any account that, in its reasonable view, has breached these Terms, presents a security risk, or is being used unlawfully. Where practical, you will be notified and given an opportunity to address the issue first; in serious cases, suspension may be immediate. On termination, your right to access the site ceases, and your data is handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator disclaims all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, in respect of the site and its content.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.
14. Limitation of liability
Subject to the paragraph above, the operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, business opportunity, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the site, whether based in contract, tort, statute, or otherwise.
Where the site is used by a consumer, statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by these Terms.
15. Indemnity
Where you use the site for purposes related to a trade, business, craft, or profession, you agree to indemnify the operator against any claims, losses, costs, and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your unlawful use of the site. This clause does not apply to consumers acting outside the course of a business.
16. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Material changes will be notified to registered users by email and will take effect no less than 14 days after notification, unless the change is required by law or relates to a new feature, in which case the change may take effect sooner. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
17. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except that consumers resident elsewhere in the United Kingdom retain the right to bring proceedings in their local courts.
18. Severability and entire agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Legal information page, constitute the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding your use of the site.
