  Data Engineer — Workplace Savings

  Mercer Ltd · London

  • Built the data infra from zero. Designed the Databricks architecture for the Workplace Savings division — Asset Bundles for deployment, self-hosted GitHub Actions runners for CI/CD. Nothing existed before.
  • dbt pipelines the finance team trusts. Modelled and shipped analytics for the Head of DC Pensions and Finance groups — the kind of reports that go straight to leadership without a sanity check.
  • Python CLI that replaced a mess of scripts. Wrote a comprehensive CLI application for data preprocessing — one command instead of six manual steps stitched together with hope.
  • Investment tooling. Portfolio rebalancing monitor and fund performance tracker that gave the Investment team meaningful capacity back.

  Data Analyst — Workplace Savings

  • Automated the manual stuff. Python scripts replaced repetitive MI reporting processes — less copy-paste, more actual analysis.
  • Sales Pipeline Tracker. Built and maintained the Power BI dashboard that the sales team actually uses — one of those that gets printed and put on walls.
  • Data quality processes. Implemented controls to ensure accuracy and auditability of financial data — because in regulated finance, "probably right" isn't good enough.

  Data Management Analyst

  Bloomberg LP · London

  • Fixed Income database at scale. Managed the end-to-end data lifecycle for a securities database relied on by 325,000+ traders, analysts, and portfolio managers globally. It had to be right.
  • Automated validation and reconciliation. Designed rules and processes to catch data quality issues before they propagated — global bond data, zero tolerance for drift.
